    Disentanglement of two harmonic oscillators in relativistic motion

    We study the dynamics of quantum entanglement between two Unruh-DeWitt detectors, one stationary (Alice), and another uniformly accelerating (Rob), with no direct interaction but coupled to a common quantum field in (3+1)D Minkowski space. We find that for all cases studied the initial entanglement between the detectors disappears in a finite time ("sudden death"). After the moment of total disentanglement the correlations between the two detectors remain nonzero until late times. The relation between the disentanglement time and Rob's proper acceleration is observer dependent.     A New Seamless Bitstream Switching Scheme for H.264 Video Adaptation with Enhanced Coding Performance

    [[abstract]]In this paper, we propose a new seamless bitstream switching scheme to improve the coding performance of H.264 SP-frames for rate adaptation. Our method removes one of the two re-quantization blocks in the SP-frame encoders so as to significantly improve coding performance. The seamless switching property of SP-frames is retained by properly restructuring the primary and secondary switching frame codecs. Experimental results show that our proposed scheme achieves close coding performance to that of regular H.264 P-frames and significantly better performance than that of SP-frames.     BIOMECHANICAL ANALYSIS DURING COUNTERMOVEMENT JUMP IN CHILDREN AND ADULTS

    This study was to examine the biomechanical characteristics of children and adults during countermovement jump. Seven children and seven adult males were recruited to the study. A Peak high-speed camera (120Hz) synchronized with a force plate (600Hz) were used to record vertical jumping action. The kinetic parameters were calculated by using inverse dynamic method. Results showed that the children had both immature joint function prior to propulsion and inadequate knee and ankle joints function during propulsion. It is concluded that a lack of form in jumping strategy was performed during vertical jumpings in the children's group in terms of the kinetic methods was performed. This information may be used in following studies about countermovement jump, avoiding some important information needed only by kinematic analysis, it will be more complete to apply kinetic analysis for children movement researches

    Percutaneous Endoscopic Gastrostomy in the Enteral Feeding of the Elderly

    SummaryToday we are faced with an aging society that may develop malnutrition because of dysphagia related to dementia, stroke, and malignancy seen often in the elderly. The preferred form of nutritional supplementation for this group is enteral nutrition, and the most appropriate long-term method is by use of a gastrostomy. Percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy (PEG) was first introduced in 1980 as an alternative to the traditional operative procedure and rapidly became the preferred procedure. In geriatric patients, the principal indications are neurological dysphagia and malnutrition, related to an underlying disease or anorexia-cachexia in very elderly. PEG is contraindicated in the presence of respiratory distress, previous gastric resection, total esophageal obstruction, coagulation disorders and sepsis in the elderly. Common complications include wound infection, leakage, hemorrhage, and fistula in the general population, but aspiration pneumonia is the major case of death in this group. Risks and complications of PEG must be discussed with patients and their families; and the decision for percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy insertion should only be made after careful consideration and discussion between managing physicians, allied health professionals, and the patient and/or family. Four ethical principles may help make feeding decisions: beneficence, non-maleficence, autonomy and justice. Attentive long-term care after tube replacement is mandatory. Acceptance of percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy placement by patients and their families tends to increase once favorable outcomes are offered

    Graphene is a famous truly two-dimensional (2D) material, possessing a cone-like energy structure near the Fermi level and treated as a gapless semiconductor. Its unique properties trigger researchers to find applications of it. The gapless feature shrinks the development of graphene nanoelectronics. Making one-dimensional (1D) strips of graphene nanoribbons (GNRs) could be one of the promising routes to modulating the electronic and optical properties of graphene. The electronic and optical properties of GNRs are highly sensitive to the edge and width. The tunability in electronic and optical properties further implies the possibilities of GNR application. However, the dangling bonds at ribbon edges remain an open question in GNR systems. Various passivation at the ribbon edge might change the essential physical properties. In this work, 5d5d transition-metal elements are considered as the guest atoms at the edges.     2D-Span Resampling of Bi-RRT in Dynamic Path Planning

    Path planning is an essential task in robot soccer. The purpose of path planning brings a robot to quickly achieve a desired location, showing that the robot has a better chance to shoot or dribble a ball to a goal. Previous work in path planning adopted sensors such as sonars and lasers to obtain local information to avoid obstacles and reach to a goal. By doing this, the robot may move slowly and collide easily with other robots that using similar obstacle-avoidance algorithms. This work proposes a 2D-span resampling method and post processing including pruning and smoothening of bi-directional rapidly-exploring random tree (Bi-RRT) to improve the path route and computational time of path planning. To avoid obstacles, this work re-plans the path by a novel 2D-span resampling method in Bi-RRT. The post processing of pruning unnecessary Bi-RRT nodes and smoothening path route enables a robot to reach a goal with a short path. This simulations validate the proposed method by the performance comparison with several common path-planning methods, showing that it generally has a shorter route distance and less computational time than the other methods

    Abstract Patent documents contain important research results. However, they are lengthy and rich in technical terminology such that it takes a lot of human efforts for analyses. Automatic tools for assisting patent engineers or decision makers in patent analysis are in great demand. This paper describes a series of text mining techniques that conforms to the analytical process used by patent analysts. These techniques include text segmentation, summary extraction, feature selection, term association, cluster generation, topic identification, and information mapping. The issues of efficiency and effectiveness are considered in the design of these techniques. Some important features of the proposed methodology include a rigorous approach to verify the usefulness of segment extracts as the document surrogates, a corpus-and dictionary-free algorithm for keyphrase extraction, an efficient co-word analysis method that can be applied to large volume of patents, and an automatic procedure to create generic cluster titles for ease of result interpretation. Evaluation of these techniques was conducted. The results confirm that the machine-generated summaries do preserve more important content words than some other sections for classification. To demonstrate the feasibility, the proposed methodology was applied to a realworld patent set for domain analysis and mapping, which shows that our approach is more effective than existing classification systems. The attempt in this paper to automate the whole process not only helps create final patent maps for topic analyses, but also facilitates or improves other patent analysis tasks such as patent classification, organization, knowledge sharing, and prior art searches

    Factors Related to Significant Improvement of Estimated Glomerular Filtration Rates in Chronic Hepatitis B Patients Receiving Telbivudine Therapy

    Background and Aim. The improvement of estimated glomerular filtration rates (eGFRs) in chronic hepatitis B (CHB) patients receiving telbivudine therapy is well known. The aim of this study was to clarify the kinetics of eGFRs and to identify the significant factors related to the improvement of eGFRs in telbivudine-treated CHB patients in a real-world setting. Methods. Serial eGFRs were calculated every 3 months using the Chronic Kidney Disease Epidemiology Collaboration (CKD-EPI) equation. The patients were classified as CKD-1, -2, or -3 according to a baseline eGFR of ≥90, 60–89, or <60 mL/min/1.73 m2, respectively. A significant improvement of eGFR was defined as a more than 10% increase from the baseline. Results. A total of 129 patients were enrolled, of whom 36% had significantly improved eGFRs. According to a multivariate analysis, diabetes mellitus (DM) (p=0.028) and CKD-3 (p=0.043) were both significantly related to such improvement. The rates of significant improvement of eGFR were about 73% and 77% in patients with DM and CKD-3, respectively. Conclusions. Telbivudine is an alternative drug of choice for the treatment of hepatitis B patients for whom renal safety is a concern, especially patients with DM and CKD-3

    This paper observes the exploration of Genetic Network Programming Two-Stage Reinforcement Learning for mobile robot navigation. The proposed method aims to observe its exploration when inexperienced environments used in the implementation. In order to deal with this situation, individuals are trained firstly in the training phase, that is, they learn the environment with ϵ-greedy policy and learning rate α parameters. Here, two cases are studied, i.e., case A for low exploration and case B for high exploration. In the implementation, the individuals implemented to get experience and learn a new environment on-line. Then, the performance of learning processes are observed due to the environmental changes
